David Galison was a friend a father a husband a brother a son and so much more. David and I first met when I moved to Woodbury in 9th grade. Knowing no one and entering a new schoold David was the first person I met. We quickly became best friends. Many special memories were created over those 4 years. After high school David and I reconnected when I was living in Florida and he was going to school down there. We maintained a friendship for over 25 years. David and I had the type of friendship where even though we may not have talked on a daily basis or saw each other as often as we would have liked we always had a special bond.
David was an avid surfer and travelled a lot with his surfing buddies in search of the ultimate wave. He eventually moved to Long Beach and would surf all seasons of the year.He also had a passion for motorcycles specifically the Ducatti brand. David was an attorney by trade and known for being one of the best DWI attorneys on Long Island. He would often carry a camera in his car and take pictures of stopped motorists for his DWI brochures. David was awarded attorney of the year by his peers last year. His famous line if you ever get pulled over was "don't blow". He was remarried only a few years ago and has 4 children aging in range from 2-14. When David was diagnosed a few years ago with Pancreatic cancer he never complained. He always maintained a positive outlook on life. Driving him to chemo a few times made me realize about life and how short a time we all have here. I won't say he lost his battle to cancer because his memory will never die.
The proceeds for this crawl will be sent to the fund for Davids kids college.
When we drink on this crawl we celebrate Davids life and anyone we know or knew who had battled cancer.
Life is short enjoy it!
